7 Caps Description

7 Caps is a very small application that aims to notify you in real time whether the status of the Num Lock or Caps Lock keys changes.

The scenarios where you accidentally activate these keys are countless, causing discomfort when you’re writing a document or a presentation.

Having a utility such as 7 Caps can prove of great use especially that it continuously monitors the keys’ status in order to let you know when you’ve activated or deactivated them.

Installation takes under a minute, after which you can get acquainted with its small, minimalistic interface. Its layout is similar to a widget, providing two separate indicators for each of the keys.

Upon launch, it immediately detects whether Caps Lock or Num Lock are activated and displays the status accordingly. If Caps Lock is disabled, it will show a row of lower case letters (a, b, c), which will turn into upper case once the key becomes enabled.

The same occurs for the Num Lock key: provided that it’s activated is shows a number in a little box and if it’s disabled, it displays nothing (the box is empty).

The application is kept on top of all other processes by default, so you can view the changes in real time, when and if they occur. You can personalize the appearance of the GUI by adjusting its opacity and optionally applying a shadow effect.

All in all, 7 Caps proves to be efficient, but unlike many other similar utilities, it comes at a price, which we find to be a little too high for the task it accomplishes.
