Developed as an add-in for Microsoft Outlook, Convert Messages from MSG to EML Format has a pretty self-explanatory name: it lets users turn MSG-formatted files into EML.
The small tool can be easily built into Microsoft Outlook, and it comes with just a few standard options which can be set up by anyone, including users with no background in software applications.
When the installation procedure is finished, you can access Convert Messages from MSG to EML Format from a separate menu in Outlook’s primary panel.
The interface is represented by a regular window with an intuitive structure that does not sport hidden options. It is suffice to point out the source folder with EML messages, along with a directory for the new MSG items, in order to proceed with the conversion operation.
Needless to say, batch processing is supported, thus allowing users to seamlessly convert multiple files at the same time, as long as they are placed in the same directory. It is also possible to include subfolders, as well as set the tool to save messages in Unicode format, compatible with Outlook 2003 and above.
The small tool has a good response time and finishes a conversion job quickly and without errors. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, since the app did not cause Outlook to hang or crash.
Although it is not the most resourceful email conversion program, Convert Messages from MSG to EML Format gets the job done quickly and can be used even by rookies, thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity.
