Diskovery Description
Being aware of your hard drive’s health status is important since parameters that exceed normal limits might be a sign of a malfunction and even failure.
Designed as a companion application for Bvckup, Diskovery retrieves relevant information about your hard drives, providing a valuable insight of their operational status and storage capacity.
Structured hardware information
One plus is that no installation is required. Once you double-click the executable, you are greeted by a well-organized interface that provides one-click access to vital system information. The left side of the window shows all the physical drives and the logical volumes, whereas the right panel includes a more detailed overview.
Check the health of storage devices
For storage devices, you can check a drive’s ID and capacity, vendor, and serial number. Aside from these technical details, you can find the drive’s operational status, including its temperature and a table comprising all the SMART attributes, thresholds, and problems that require your attention. Other than a short description, SMART parameters are not explained within the app, which would be of help to those who are not familiar with all these attributes.
Further on you can browse a list of partitions and their size, the SATA signaling rate, the total number of power-on hours, and supported features (SMART, AAM, TRIM, and so on).
Additionally, Diskovery extracts data regarding all logical volumes, showing you their serial, label, ID and type, all in tree-like lists to make all the information visible and clear. You can check the volume’s access rights, status, transition state, and health, or view the file system type and the storage space usage.
Storage device analysis and health assessment tool
Diskovery can gather relevant data about connected storage devices, building a comprehensive report that can give you an idea of how well your hard disks and other hardware devices are working. In other words, it can help you take the appropriate measures to fix errors before hard disk failure.
What would add to its value is an integrated disk space analyzer to allow users to quickly identify the files and folders that take up most of the available storage, allowing them to manage them easier.
