PyVcon is a lightweight and simple to understand piece of software which is meant to assist you in quickly converting your videos to other formats or even extracting their audio stream to a song, all the while requiring little to no effort from you.
Intuitive and easy to handle GUI
The program features a relatively clean and accessible user interface, much of its functionality being sufficiently straightforward that it should pose minimal difficulty, even to the less knowledgeable..
The main window of PyVcon allows you to load the source file; from the ‘Option’ tab, you can customize the output preferences, while the ‘Log’ section lets you view the details of the operation.
Convert your videos to other formats or grab the audio stream
The tool relies on ffmpeg for the encoding tasks and thus ensures a swift and accurate result; at the same time, it uses MediaInfo components for processing the metadata stored by the files.
To get started, you can add the source movie into the application, either via the ribbon button or the ‘File’ menu option. It can handle a variety of input files, such as MOV, MKV, MP4, MPG, VOB, DIVX, 3GP, M4V, MPEG, AVI, DAT and others. However, drag and drop actions are not supported, nor are batch operations, so if you need to process multiple files, you will have to do it one by one.
Regarding the output preferences, PyVcon can generate videos in AVI, MKV, MP4 or WMV, as well as extract the audio to MP3, WMA or M4A format. In addition, you can adjust the resolution, bitrate and ‘Constant Rate Factor Control’ or ‘Constant Quality Control’ levels, depending on the type of video it is working with.
Once you click on ‘Start’, the utility will prompt you to define an destination folder, after which it will proceed to generating your file, providing you with a detailed log of the task in the dedicated tab of the main window.
