Power Kit Description
Power Kit is a lightweight program designed to assist users in saving energy by scheduling computer shutdown tasks. Users can either define countdown timers in minutes or by specifying an exact hour.
Can be linked to other applications with a foreseeable endpoint
Virtually all Windows users can benefit from this tool, as scheduling system shutdowns can save a lot of energy. Probably the most efficient use of this resource is when it is linked with a system process that has a definitive endpoint (e.g. a disk defragmenter and even a download session with a reliable and constant transfer speed).
As one would expect for this type of utility, the GUI is very intuitive. The interface consisting of one window is divided between two frames, which control the countdown timer and the shutdown action, respectively. Two buttons allow users to start or cancel operations.
Useful for both desktops and laptops
There are five shutdown modes from which to choose from: hibernate, restart, shut down, sign out and sleep. The wide array of options should suit most needs, including those of users of mobile devices, such as laptops.
Before a task can be set up, the self-explanatory modes have to be linked to a countdown timer. There are two methods that can be employed to define this parameter: setting a duration, in minutes or by defining an hour, at which point the program will trigger the designated event.
Can be configured to start with Windows
Regardless of the timer setup, users can cancel tasks with a simple click on the “Abort” button. A nice feature is that users can configure the software to automatically run on Windows startup.
All things considered, Power Kit is a simple, but very useful shutdown tool that anyone can employ in order to save energy.
