IP Viewer Description
JRL IP Viewer is a simple networking tool that shows your local and external IP address, along with the host name and MAC address. It features basic options that can be easily tackled, even by users inexperienced with such software.
Hassle-free setup and systray integration
The installation procedure is a fast and easy task that shouldn’t give you any trouble, since there aren’t special options, prerequisite tools or third-party offers involved.
Once launched, the program creates an icon in the systray and sits there silently when unused, without disturbing your regular PC activity by showing balloon messages.
View your hostname, IP and MAC address
Double-clicking the icon brings up to the screen a small panel that shows your local and external IP address, in addition to the host name and MAC address. Any of them can be copied to the Clipboard from the menu bar.
Configure program settings
Moreover, you can refresh IP information, disable systray on window minimization or close, make JRL IP Viewer’s frame stay on top of other windows, ask the utility to start minimized, hide the external IP address, change the default refresh rate (minutes), as well as select the type of info to display when hovering the mouse cursor over the tray icon (toolip).
Evaluation and conclusion
It didn’t put a strain on system performance in our tests, since it required a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. We haven’t experienced any stability issues, as it didn’t hang, crash or show error dialogs.
To sum it up, JRL IP Viewer delivers a simple and effective solution for viewing your local and external IP address, together with host name and MAC address, backed by handy configuration settings for all user levels. It’s free for non-commercial use.
