FadeEffects Description

Without proper adjustments, pictures can sometimes look dull: faded colors, reduced brightness, low contrast, you name it.

There are a few ways of making them more visual-appealing and using image editing software, such as FadeEffects, is one of them.

Troublesome interface

FadeEffects is a portable application that provides you with a simple, yet buggy interface. While the functions it encompasses are quite self-explanatory, interacting with the program does not yield the expected feedback.

Photos cannot be resized or repositioned in the main window, therefore if you use a high-resolution file, chances are that you can only edit a certain area of it. The only way of bypassing this limitation is resorting to a full image view.

You can alter image properties, such as brightness, contrast and color levels, using adjustable slider buttons that display abnormal functionality. Once you drag a slider away from its starting (zero) position, you cannot return it back to its default state.

Poor functionality

You can apply various effects to your pictures, including color inversion and emboss filters, or even draw personalized content with the integrated brush tool. However, while running it on Windows 10, using certain plugins, such as Obscure Image, can cause the application to suddenly stop working or to display various error messages, then crash.

Also, you should be aware that using a brush tool on your current image file is not an undoable action and it may require you to revert your photo to its original state.

FadeEffects provides no undo action button, whatsoever, so if you are lucky enough to remember the Ctrl + Z key combination, it might work, although some of its sections do not support it.

Limited integration

This application offers no drag and drop support, therefore you can only open files via its dedicated function that offers no supported filetype information.

When opening a file to edit, you can either select a picture from your local machine or provide it with a link and the application downloads the content for you. After you finish editing, FadeEffects allows you to export the result to your computer or share it with others on Facebook.

Basic image editing tool

To sum it up, FadeEffects can provide you with basic image adjusting features, but editing your content might prove a little tricky, since you may encounter interface-related difficulties or random crashes while trying to access certain functions.
