myip Description
myip is a very basic yet efficient program developed to provide you with the easiest means possible of obtaining your public IP address, along with a few other handy details.
The utility features quite a simple and very unimpressive interface. It does not require an installation process, meaning you can work with it immediately after download.
After launching myip, you can press on the ‘Show IP’ button, and within moments, the application will display the result in its main window. Note that the tool only displays your external, or public IP address, so the one generated by your router, for instance, will not be retrieved.
Additionally, the ‘Copy’ button allows you to copy the information to clipboard, enabling you to paste it in other windows or programs. This small piece of software also retrieves and displays the hostname, along with the proxy, if any are being used. This, however, is not copied to clipboard along with the IP address.
The ‘Refresh’ function lets you verify if your current address is the same, which can prove quite handy if you are working with a VPN tool or service and want to make sure your IP has indeed changed, before proceeding to the web page you were going to access.
