JPview Description
JPview is a cross-platform application that can load and display PDF documents within a user-friendly interface. Built in Java, it can help you open files in portable document format and navigating between pages easily.
Simple usage and intuitive controls
Simplicity is one of its main characteristics, which is clearly reflected by the forthright interface. Opening a PDF file is done via the ‘File’ menu or just by dragging and dropping it onto the main window. Then, its content is shown and you can scroll to view the next pages.
The GUI is mostly occupied by the viewer, sporting additional controls for adjusting the zoom level and navigating to the next page. Alternatively, you can specify a page number to go to in the designated box, which comes in handy when dealing with large PDFs.
It also features options for rotating pages, viewing page thumbnails, fitting the view to the window width and height or displaying the PDF in full screen.
Print and convert PDFs to text files
One of its most important features is the possibility to extract the text content out of the opened PDF document and save it to the hard disk, in TXT format. Thanks to this option, JPview can be considered a handy PDF to text conversion utility.
Alternatively, the PDF document can be printed directly from the application. This process is rather slow, since each page is first rendered to an image and then sent to the printer.
A PDF reader that sticks to the basics
JPview encases the basic functionality of a PDF reader, providing a simple GUI especially dedicated to display such files. The search options help you quickly find exactly what you are looking for, while the integrated PDF converter helps you extract its contents. There is a lot to be done for it to equal the capabilities of more popular PDF viewers. However, the ease of use and the simple GUI make it worth a try.
