Able RAWer Description
Able RAWer gives users the possibility of viewing and editing RAW images from digital cameras. It offers support for an extensive list of file formats, including CRW, RAW, RAF, BAY, ORF, RW2, SRW and KDC.
During the installation procedure you can associate Able RAWer with RAW extensions. Its interface is user-friendly. Thanks to the Explorer-based folder structure, you can seamlessly navigate directories to locate RAW files. Unfortunately, you cannot drag the files from outside the workspace to drop them into the main frame.
When viewing images in the primary panel, you can use the mouse buttons to zoom in and out. From the bottom part of the screen it is possible to configure settings for the white balance (e.g. automatically adjust colors, use auto WB and camera WB), four-color RGB, blue and red scale, gamma and brightness levels, and quick interpolation.
More image adjustments can be performed from the Image menu. For instance, you can change the contrast, hue, saturation, luminosity, RGB and equalization, as well as sharpen the pictures. A few image filters are applicable, including bluriness, embossment, high pass, wave, rotation and morphs. It is possible to view changes before applying them.
One of Able RAWer’s most notable features is that it facilitates file conversions from RAW extensions to common image formats – JPG, GIF, TIF, PCX, PNG, BMP, and the list goes on. Batch conversions are not supported, as these tasks can be carried out by external apps, such as Able Batch Converter.
The utility certainly integrates many useful options for manipulating RAW pictures. It has a good response time and applies modifications swiftly, without making the OS hang, crash or pop up error dialogs, and while using a low-to-moderate quantity of CPU and RAM. Able RAWer certainly meets the requirements of common users when it comes to RAW editing.
