delaycut Description
As the name of this tool implies, delaycut lets you trim an audio track and insert delays. It supports the WAV, MP3, AC3, EAC3, DDP, EC3, DD+ and DTS formats for the input. However, it delivers results only with the AC3, EAC3, DDP, EC3, DD+ and DTS extensions.
This is a portable piece of software, so installation is not a requirement. It means that you can just drop the executable file on any location on the hard drive and run it.
Alternatively, you can save delaycut to a USB flash drive or similar storage unit, and run it on any computer. Thus, you can keep the tool with you whenever you’re on the move.
What’s more important is that the Windows Registry section is not updated with entries, and no files remain on the hard drive after deleting the app.
The interface of the application consists of a standard window with a well-organized layout; first-time users can easily figure out how to deal with delaycut. Loading an audio track into the workspace can be done by using either the file browser or “drag and drop” function. Unfortunately, you cannot process multiple items in a single session.
The application displays a lot of technical details about the sound file in question, such as the bit rate, file size, channel mode, sample rate, duration, total frames and bytes per frame. You can cut the file or insert a delay into it by marking the start and end position (in milliseconds), or perform both tasks at the same time.
When it comes to CRC errors, delaycut can either ignore, fix, silence or skip them. After establishing the destination folder, filename and extension, you may initialize the procedure. Unfortunately, there are no other options available through this program.
delaycut uses a low-to-moderate quantity of CPU and system memory, so it shouldn’t put a strain on the computer’s resources. It has a good response time, completes a job rapidly and preserves a good sound quality after format conversion. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, since the app was stable. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, delaycut can be used by individuals of any skill level.
