Directory Report Description

Directory Report is a comprehensive software application designed to compare multiple folders to find out whether they have identical files or not, as well as to locate duplicates, among other types of operations. It comes packed with numerous options, such as filters for file names and directories.

Easy setup and outdated GUI

Setting up this app shouldn’t be a difficult task, thanks to the fact that the installer contains only familiar options. Administrative rights are indicated for running the app.

Its interface is clearly outdated because it doesn’t show modern graphical elements, yet it is neatly organized.

Scan directories and examine results

After indicating one or more drives or directories to scan, you can check out results concerning the size, date of creation, date of access and last modification for each folders, as well as sort the items by taking into account any of these criteria.

Perform file and directory operations

Selected items can be copied or moved to other locations. In addition, you can rename multiple items at the same time by setting a naming pattern, ask the app to check for streams, as well as set filters for file names to include or exclude, file name versions, directories, size and date, file owner, duplicate files or directories, along with Microsoft Office extensions.

Directory Report also lets you include or exclude subdirectories and set the maximum folder scanning depth, specify the default comparison mode (ASCII or binary), check the cluster size, remove all registry entries, compute CRC hashes, find duplicate files or directories, and so on.

Evaluation and conclusion

The software application worked well in our tests, without causing the OS to hang, crash or pop up error messages. It finished directory scanning in a decent amount of time while remaining light on system resources.

Taking into consideration its generous range of options and configuration properties, Directory Report has a lot to offer when it comes to directory scanning and comparison.
