Powder Player Description
Lately, we are seeing a somewhat interesting evolution of torrent clients. If not long ago, a torrent client would only enable you to download and manage torrents, nowadays we are witnessing a hybridization between torrent clients and video players with streaming capabilities.
Contrary to what you might think by reading its name, Powder Player is a new-age and efficient piece of software that makes it possible for you to download torrents and view the videos under a single roof.
Easy to setup and to get started with
After a typical installation and upon launching the app for the first time, you are greeted by the app’s Settings section that enables you to customize its behavior right off the bat.
You can quickly associate magnet links, torrent and video files, choose the default video player, fiddle about with subtitles options and limit the maximum numbers of peers, the playback buffer size and define the download folder, just to name a few of the most important ones.
To get started, thanks to a practical main menu, you can drop torrent and video files onto Powder Player’s main window or you can use one of the three, self-explanatory options, namely Add Torrent, Add Video and Use a URL.
Part torrent client, part video player, perfectly combined
From here onwards, it is business as usual – when you need to, the application acts as a torrent client by providing you with the means to manage torrents and as a simplistic video player when you want to view the torrent videos.
You are provided with a set of basic information like the number of peers, an exact reading of the uploaded or downloaded data and the download speed.
It is worth mentioning that when the video mode is active, with the help of its bespoke Player Settings menu, you can stream the files to TV (DLNA), manage playlists and folders and even set a ‘Sleep Timer’.
Download torrents and play videos from a stylish interface
All in all, if you are using torrents to get your favorite movies, documentaries and TV shows on a regular basis and you are fed up of using one app to download and another to play them, then Powder Player is exactly what you are looking for.
With its modern interface, straightforward workflow and support for torrents and magnet files and links, Youtube URLs and basically all the VLC supported media formats; there’s no doubt about the fact that Powder Player will make a lot of users happy.
