RenPhoric Description
Having to do with many files of the same time can become confusing if there’s no preview, and they have ambiguous names. What’s more, manually renaming can take a considerable amount of time, but this is where applications like RenPhoric get a chance to shine, letting you use custom rules to rename them all with little effort.
Replace text in name or use regular expressions
The first thing that needs to be done is to specify the location of the files you want to rename. Subdirectories are automatically included, and there’s the option to have them brought to the same level, to get a better view of files. As soon as you load the directory, files are shown in a list, which lets you copy its elements in case you want to save a log of files which get renamed.
Applying rules takes only a little while. One method of renaming is to simply replace a custom text string with a different one. On the other hand, you can bring up a list of regular expressions which can be combined to generate different results, such as matching particular strings, enumerating, and more.
Preview generated in real time
However, there’s yet another method of renaming, but this one lets you go in a little more detail. In other words, you can have the list of files opened in Notepad, thus giving you a chance to make minor adjustment to individual files, in case there are some to which you want to add special strings.
Preview is generated in real time, so you can clearly view how new files are going to look. Unfortunately, you need to make sure that the folder you add contains only files of interest, because there aren’t any pre-filters to apply, such as extensions to pick only a custom range of targets.
A few last words
All in all, RenPhoric is a reliable renaming application, letting you select from a wide range of regular expression to combine for a thorough process, and even adjust files individually for more variety. Although file import filters can’t be applied, it’s worth a try, with real time updating preview, and intuitive process overall.
