Rtmp Explorer Description
Streaming content is nowadays available in a wide variety of formats and old types of streams still coexist alongside newer ones and can be opened or downloaded likewise. One of the most widespread forms of delivering multimedia (audio and video) is through RTMP or its encrypted counterpart RTMPS.
For this Real Time Messaging Protocol there have been developed several servers, including Adobe’s Flash Media Server. To facilitate the communication with such server components, dedicated utilities are also available.
One of these tools which can be used for managing these streams is called Rtmp Explorer. Mainly focused on directing the RTMP and RTMPE traffic, this software serves as an interface for rtmpsrv. More precisely, it will send the data and allow for the information to be viewed and captured (downloaded).
Getting this particular application to work is not a difficult task, it only requires that the executables for both rtmpsrv and rtmpdump are placed in the same directory as Rtmp Explorer. No other configurations are necessary and the dependencies are already packed in the archive the main program comes in.
Using Rtmp Explorer is even easier, since all you will have to do is start it and type the URL address for the streamed content in the internal browser and then press ‘Go’. The advantage is pretty evident because you will no longer have to allocate any supplemental system resources by using the web browser you have installed onto your PC.
As soon as the process is started, the traffic is redirected to rtmpsrv and the download will begin automatically. User intervention is not necessary because Rtmp Explorer carries out the job independently.
Overall, given its ease of use and thanks to the fact that it is extremely lightweight, this application serves it purpose quite well. It all depends on the flavor of Windows you are using it on because on the latest iterations of Microsoft’s proprietary OS there have been reports of errors when running Rtmp Explorer.
