Subisoft Compute Hash (formerly ComputeHash) Description
ComputeHash is a very small and practical Windows tool that calculates and displays hashes for files of any type. It features support for MD5, SHA1, SHA256, SHA384 and SHA512 signatures in its current version.
Context menu integration
Those expecting a standard wizard at installation will be surprised. When double-clicking the EXE file, ComputeHash immediately integrates an entry into the Windows Explorer shell extension, thus allowing you to quickly fetch the hashes for any files. No confirmation dialog pops up.
Clean and neatly organized UI
The app’s interface has a clean and modern look, containing no other options apart from the ones visible. The frame stays on top of other windows, and this option cannot be disabled.
Copy handpicked hashes or export all data
The MD5, SHA1, SHA256, SHA384 and SHA512 checksums can be viewed in either lowercase or uppercase form, and each entry can be copied to the Clipboard with the click of a button (only the hash is copied, without its type or corresponding file’s name).
ComputeHash also integrates a function for exporting information to a plain text document for closer inspection and safekeeping, after specifying the output directory and file name. Unlike the former copying method, this one saves all visible data. There are no other notable features available here. For example, the tool does not implement options for comparing two hashes.
Easily remove the context menu entry
CPU and RAM consumption is low during ComputeHash’s runtime. It instantly calculates and shows hashes, without triggering Windows to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Moreover, the package comes with a BAT file for removing the context menu entry.
In conclusion
To sum it up, ComputeHash sports easy-to-use features for finding out MD5, SHA1, SHA256, SHA384 and SHA512 checksums, wrapped up in an attractive and intuitive interface.
