SubiSoft Power Switch Description
Power Switch is a tiny and portable software application that automatically switches between power management plans, depending on the laptop’s battery status. It sports basic options that are intuitive enough for novices users.
Portability advantages
As there is no installation involved, you can drop the executable file in any part of the hard disk and just click it to run, as well as save a copy of Power Switch to a USB flash disk and run it on any notebook easily, without any previous installations.
More importantly, the tool does not create new entries in the Windows registry or Start menu, so no tracks are left behind after its removal.
Accessibility via the system tray
At startup, Power Switch creates an icon in the system tray area and immediately becomes active. It allows users to toggle the balanced, high performance and power saver power plans, as well as to pick the plan to automatically apply when the battery is low.
The tool also shows the current battery level and status, can automatically run at system startup and beep on full charge, as well as run a user-defined program when the battery is fully charged. Users may also modify the default tray icon color.
Conclusion
As expected, the app has minimal impact on system performance, running on low CPU and memory. We have not encountered any unpleasant surprises throughout our evaluation, since it did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Although it is not feature-rich, Power Switch offers a simple solution when it comes to automatic power plans for notebooks.
