Twittalert Description
Twittalert is Twitter desktop client that shows you notifications from the lower-right corner of the screen as soon as someone you follow posts a new tweet.
This way, it creates a distraction-free zone to help you focus on your computer tasks while keeping in touch with your Twitter feed.
Requires .NET Framework and Twitter authorization
Make sure to install .NET Framework on your PC unless you already have it. The tool’s not wrapped in a setup kit, which means that you can save the Twittalert files anywhere on your hard drive or even copy to a USB device to effortlessly launch the app on any PC.
At startup, the client gets integrated into your systray, creating a Twitter icon. It asks you to log into your Twitter account via your web browser in order to authorize its usage. To do this, you will receive a PIN number from Twitter in your web browser that you have to copy and paste into the client’s popup window.
Notifications with new tweets pop up from the systray
Afterward, it immediately connects you to your Twitter feed, displaying a notification message as soon as something new pops up. Double-click the tray icon to view all recent tweets from the persons or groups you follow.
The frame of each tweet contains buttons for opening the tweet’s page in your web browser, marking it as a favorite, hiding media, retweeting, viewing persons or groups who favorited the tweet, as well as clicking the URL to go to the webpage.
Right-click the tray icon to configure settings
If you right-click the tray icon of Twittalert, you can open your Twitter page in your browser, log out, pause the client, as well as configure settings.
For instance, you can integrate the tool into the system startup sequence so that it automatically runs every time you turn on your PC, adjust the volume, select a custom audio file to play when displaying a notification, and exclude tweets which contain specific text or from certain users.
Seemingly simplistic, yet practical Twitter client
All things considered, Twittalert may not seem impressive, but it comes packed with practical tools for conveniently keeping your up to date with your Twitter account while carrying on with your typical desktop activity.
