ZylGPSReceiver Description

ZylGPSReceiver has been designed as a component for Delphi and CBuilder, offering support for contacting and communicating with a serial GPS receiver. Thus, it can prove a viable solution for developers looking to build GPS applications.

The tool has been designed with support for all NMEA-compatible receivers that has are connected to a PC via serial ports. However, it can also be used with USB devices because many of these devices feature a driver that automatically redirects the input from the USB port to a virtual serial port.

ZylGPSReceiver has been designed to read info such as latitude, longitude, altitude, and speed, along with various other parameters that deliver a device’s position.

Courtesy of an integrated NMEA decoder engine, the component can be used for the processing of a broad range of file types, sockets and web services. ZylGPSReceiver takes advantage of Indy socket components.

The package also includes ZylUdpGPSReceiver, an extension of ZylCustomGPSReceiver, capable of processing NMEA data from UDP sockets, and ZylFileGPSReceiver, an extension designed to process data from a text file.

ZylGPSReceiver allows developers to build applications for vehicle and marine navigation, as well as tools for emergency location, fleet management, location-based services, tracking, and farming.

System requirements

  • Delphi or C++Builder IDE

Limitations in the unregistered version

  • The demo version is fully functional in Delphi and C++Builder IDE, but it displays a nag dialog (the licensed version will, of course, not have a nag dialog and will not be limited to the IDE). The package includes demo programs for Delphi and C++Builder and a help file with the description of the component.
