ApexSQL Defrag Description
Designed for users of SQL Server, ApexSQL Defrag can analyze the structure of one or more databases and check the fragmentation rate of its index, providing a simple solution to database index maintenance operations.
Find out to what extent your database index requires defragmentation
Upon first launch, you are welcomed by the Configuration Wizard, which helps you connect to the ApexSQL Defrag agent and set up the repository database. Once the new connection is initialized, ApexSQL Defrag reveals its main window, where it displays all the running instances of SQL Server, along with all the databases.
Each database index can be analyzed individually. The application displays the name of the corresponding table, the database schema, the table type, its size, along with the fragmentation rate and the fill factor. All the data in the table can be easily filtered and sorted by various criteria.
Rebuild and reorganize indexes to remove fragmentation
You can select multiple indexes and right-click to reveal the menu that allows you to reorganize or rebuild them. Alternatively, just like in any other ribbon-based GUI, you can navigate to the designated tab to find the same options.
Not only that ApexSQL Defrag helps you fix fragmentation problems on demand, but it can also check the health of your database repository periodically and send you email notifications in case a problem occurs. Furthermore, you are the one who configures fragmentation thresholds.
Handy and fast defragmentation solution for SQL Server
High index fragmentation rates slow down database access so, just like it is with the hard disk storage, it is recommended to perform defragmentation once in a while. ApexSQL Defrag is the perfect candidate to carry out this task, especially since it securely connects to the SQL Server database and can analyze each database one by one.
