D-Link Wireless Access Point Utility Description
Some hardware devices require software support managing them properly and in an easier way. This is also the case of the DWL-900AP device, which can be configured and handled with little effort through a simple utility called D-Link Wireless Access Point Utility.
Quick installation procedure
Installing the program is just a matter of unzipping the data in a location of your choice, then all you have to do is launch the executable file and follow the instructions on the screen.
The interface is simple and straightforward. It automatically detects if the D-Link device is accessible and provides a short list of details, such as its assigned IP address and a brief description.
Tough configuration options
Although configuring the hardware device is not a tough task, beginner users should rely on the more experienced ones to carry out the activity.
The management console includes the possibility to reset the system and load the default configuration. Of course, the alternative of manual set up of the device is also on the table and permits defining the bridging level options, setting up the encryption level or check the statistics of Rx and Tx data.
Setting up the wireless configuration allows providing a name for the access point and the SSID (server set identifier) as well as the operating channel and mode or the transmit rate. There is also an advanced panel that enables the creation of authorized MAC addresses.
Outdated device
The application offers a fairly easy way to manage and configure the access point and provides straightforward access to the features of the device. However, the component is no longer fitting the current technological environment.
