Delete After Days Description

Delete After Days brings to the table a new type of recycle bin, one that can schedule permanent file deletion taking into account the number of days the item has been stored for. The purpose is to give a helping hand to those users who often find themselves downloading files from the Internet they do not have time to check out, which only results in wasted disk space.

Schedule file deletion in one, six or twelve months

Once the application is deployed on your PC, the first thing you will notice is that it places a new recycle bin on your desktop, but without replacing the Windows one. Adding files to the recycle bin is done using simple drag and drop actions and Delete After Days prompts you to set the expiry date.

As a drawback, there is no option to customize the number of days files will be considered valid for, so you just have to settle for the default alternatives, which enable you to choose between 30, 180 and 365 days. Once you do, a reminder screen is shown, comprising the expiry date.

Work with files until expiry date

The great thing about Delete After Days is that it leaves the files in their original location, enabling you to access, move, copy or erase them anytime you want to until their expiry date arrives. In other words, the files are not deleted immediately as you drop them in the bin, as it happens with the Windows’ Recycle Bin, but are simply scheduled for deletion.

If this date is close (the default number of remaining days is 5, but you can change this setting), Delete After Days displays notifications and colors the entries differently for files that are soon to be erased.

Automatically delete files to save disk space

Delete After Days is a handy tool for those who tend to forget to clean up their hard drive, which ends up being filled with unnecessary or very old files. Unfortunately, it does offer the possibility to enter the expiry date manually. Even so, scheduling file deletion is a breeze and working with the application is very easy.
