EKO Description
Audio can nowadays come from a variety of sources and it more or less lands on a computer. In most cases sound requires processing before it’s actually used where needed. In this regard, EKO comes with a set of tools to help you not only process sound to add effects, but also to record with a connected microphone.
Load an existing file or record sound on the spot
The application gets deployed in a jiffy and you can launch it shortly after. The main window shows up accompanied by a floating mixer window, the visibility of which can be toggled at the press of a button. Adding files is done through the built-in navigator, but working on existing files is not the only way at it, because there’s also a recorder in case you want to capture external sound with a microphone.
The waveform of the loaded file or item is instantly built and displayed in the main window. The mouse can be used to select custom parts of a song, while playback options are at a click away, with the possibility to loop playback for better feedback when adjusting parameters or configuring effects.
Configure effects, manage channels, generate sound, and more
As for the mixer, it can be fitted with a variety of built-in effects, such as amplifier, filter, overdrive, delay, and vinyl taste which helps you create neat scratch effects. Each brings up its own window and the status can be toggled from the mixer window. Effects have their own configurations with feedback delivered in real-time.
There’s a bit more to it than just adding effects or recording audio. The application comes as a proper audio editor, letting you process the entire waveform or particular bits. Functions can be used to insert silence, apply fade effect, generate sine wave and noise, adjust the number of channels and parameters, handle DC offset, and reverse.
To end with
Taking everything into account, we can state that EKO manages to live up to expectations, delivering a powerful set of tools with which to capture sound and manipulate it to meet your demands. The design is intuitive, with floating mixer and effects window, as well as a whole range of functions at your fingertips.
