Emoji Keyboard for Firefox Description
Instant messaging apps usually come equipped with their own sets of emojis, as it has become very difficult for us to express ourselves without them. However, if you are looking for a larger collection that can be accessed easily from your browser, this extension may be just what you need.
Emoji Keyboard (2016) by EmojiOne is a Firefox add-on (also available for Chrome and Opera) that lets you grab any emoji from its large collection directly from the browser’s toolbar. It works great, for the most part, but there are still a couple of issues that need to be dealt with.
Get the perfect emoji in no time at all
Once installed, the extension can be accessed easily from the Firefox toolbar. When you click the icon, a new panel is displayed showcasing the emojis you have used recently, and you can quickly search for specific items.
The emojis are organized into multiple categories: classic smileys and people, animals and nature, food and drink, activity, travel, places, objects, symbols and flags. You can select several items at once and copy all the icons to the clipboard in a single set.
Customize the extension’s look and behavior
There are three panel dimension presets for you to choose from, depending on how much window space you want the extension to take up. Alternatively, you can undock it and view the emojis in a separate window.
To avoid cluttering the panel, you can limit the number of recent emojis that are displayed. The output size of the icons is also customizable if the auto-replace function is enabled.
A few kinks that need to be ironed out
While the extension is easy enough to use, it seems a bit sluggish at times, as there is a bit of a delay between clicking the icon and the emoji panel being displayed.
Most importantly, however, there is a big issue with the auto-replace function, which substitutes all emojis in Firefox with the new ones. It can significantly increase load times on certain pages, so it is recommended that you disable it for the time being.
On the whole, Emoji Keyboard (2016) by EmojiOne is a great extension for users who need a few more emojis at their disposal when using Firefox. It is not perfect, but we hope that the performance issues will be resolved in upcoming releases.
