Kwatee Description
Kwatee is a complex and reliable software solution delivered as a WAR package, in fact being an archived web application that contains all of the necessary files and libraries for working with Tomcat and H2 (it can also handle MySQL or PostgreSQL, depending on users’ preferences).
Kwatee enables users to install as well as update software on the target servers. This can take place both on the LAN or in the Cloud. In brief terms, it is a push deployment utility that performs incremental updates on servers, all deployments being management from a single location.
The tool encompasses several different roles that users will need to configure for the setup of Kwatee. As such, the Tomcat Process User and Tomcat Manager will have to be defined, along with the Database Administrator and the Kawatee Database user. Finally, the Default Administrator needs to be established (by default it uses the admin / password credentials).
The installation process consists of deploying the WAR format file using the Tomcat Manager. Subsequently, the ‘kawatee.properties’ files will need to be edited to match users’ specific needs. The documentation provides users with the default information for the integrated H2 database, but also for MySQL or PostgreSQL.
Finally, users will need to reload Kwatee with the help of Tomcat Manager, opening the http://kwatee.local:8080/kwatee/ address in the web browser of choice.
Here, an intuitive GUI will guide users through the necessary steps of building the database schema, requiring them to input the credentials for the DB, which when finalized, leads users to the login screen, where they can enter the default ‘admin’ and ‘password’.
What is important to note, particularly for less experienced individuals is the fact that Kwatee provides step by step instructions in a heft online documentation. Moreover, it offers a video demonstration of how to work with it.
