MultiCastor Description
MultiCastor has been developed as an easy to use solution for concomitant sending and receiving data streams over the network.
Install dependencies
The application is Java-based, so the runtime environment has to be present on the system for MultiCastor to work.
If Java is available on the computer it comes prepared with all the necessary dependencies as it adds Pcap for Windows automatically during the installation process.
This operation does not take long and the Pcap component does not come with special requirements, except for a computer reboot, for all the changes to take effect.
Straightforward interface, flexible set of options
At the end of the installation process MultiCastor presents a straightforward application window. The sender and receiver layers are opened in tabs, making navigation between them an effortless task.
The program supports the IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol – IPv4), MLD (Multicast Listener Discovery – IPv6), MMRP (Multiple MAC Registration Protocol) and GMRP (GARP Multicast Registration Protocol) multicast registration protocols. The main screen shows an overview of the multicast state and provides control over the available layers.
There is the possibility to add new multicasts or to load them from a local configuration file (XML). Moreover, setting up the graphical interface to perfectly fit your needs you can save the configuration for later use.
Conclusion
MultiCastor provides a simple set of options wrapped in an intuitive and easy to use interface. It comes with proper documentation about all the functions present and it is versatile enough to allow loading of new multicasts or saving the old ones locally.
