OmniFormat Description
OmniFormat is a simple-to-use piece of software that enables you to convert a wide range of file formats into other types. It offers support for reading HTML, XLS, DOC, PDF, GIF, TIF, JPG, PCX, MPEG and other extensions.
Speedy setup and classical-looking GUI
The installation procedure does not take a long time to finish. However, it is necessary to install pdf995 before running this tool. As far as the interface is concerned, OmniFormat adopts a regular window with a plain and simple structure, where you can get started by pointing out the files you want to convert using either the file browser or tree view.
Easily convert files and configure settings
Batch processing is supported, which means that you can point out entire directories whose supported files you want to convert at the same time. All you have to do is specify the output format to proceed with the procedure.
As far as program options are concerned, you can adjust modulation when it comes to the brightness, saturation and hue levels, keep the same size as the original file or turn it into something else, move the converted files to a specific output folder, select the memory usage level, and so on.
Evaluation and conclusion
We have not come across any stability issues in our tests, since OmniFormat did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. It carries out conversion jobs fast while remaining light on system resources, running on low CPU and RAM. On the other hand, the tool’s options are not that intuitive for first-time users and its interface is not very attractive.
