PasswordManager Description
It is always advisable to use different passwords for each of your accounts, but you cannot be expected to remember them all. Fortunately, there are many applications out there that can help you store this information and put it at your disposal whenever it is required.
One of them is PasswordManager, a very simple tool designed to save your account details in a secure manner. Unfortunately, however, the application has some major security flaws and offers a very limited array of features.
Relatively easy-to-use, but does not organize the stored data
You can add any number of entries to the database, and each of them consists of a username, password and other relevant information.
However, the data is not displayed in a table, which means that it is very difficult to read, and you cannot sort the entries based on the three available parameters.
Furthermore, the application does not offer a search function, and the passwords cannot be placed into categories.
Badly-designed program that can put your passwords at risk
While adding all your account details is easy enough, it is clear that no effort was put into actually securing the imported data.
The passwords are stored in an unprotected TXT file saved in the application’s folder, and the document is even named “Passwords”. The data is not encrypted in any way, which means that anyone can open the document and obtain the valuable data.
Needless to say, this makes it absurdly simple for anyone to find and steal all your credentials. All they need to do is copy the small file, and they can even view where each of the passwords can be used.
Disappointing password manager that has severe security flaws
Sadly, PasswordManager cannot be recommended to any user in its current state. It is more likely to give away your passwords than store them in a secure manner, as the application saves all your information in an unprotected TXT file. Moreover, it displays your data in a disorganized fashion and offers no advanced features.
