Shutdown Delay Description
The development team behind Windows tried to tweak each area for faster management and more ease of use. Even boot and shutdown time has been greatly decreased in the latest installments, but you might also want to automate the process. In this regard, Shutdown Delay comes with the right set of features to make your computer turn itself off at a specific time.
Select from multiple power options
It only takes a few seconds to get it installed and running on your computer. All features are stored in a compact main window that gets minimized to the system tray once all is set up. Although pretty simple and not fitted with any shiny visuals, it lets you quickly accommodate and start using it from the first few seconds it’s launched.
Fortunately, the application is not limited to shutting down your computer. A drop-down menu is home to most of your computer’s power options, such as shutdown, restart, log off, or lock. In addition, you can make the application forcefully kill any stubborn processes that don’t want to end, thus making sure your computer goes to sleep when it’s programmed to.
Set schedule and notifications
In case you plan to leave your computer to finish a task that takes more than one day, you need to know that the scheduler is not only fitted with a timer, but also with a calendar to set a specific date. Once this is done, pressing Start Timer initiates countdown until the power option on your choice is triggered.
Chances are you use it on short notice, but more work comes around and time becomes a precious thing. Just so your PC doesn’t instantly close without giving you the chance to save your work, there’s the possibility to set notifications every 30, 10, 5, and 1 minutes. Although there’s no sound alert and no option to set one, a small prompt appears on the screen with a confirmation button. It then lets you cancel, or notify you it’s time to save your work.
On an ending note
Taking everything into consideration, we can safely state that Shutdown Delay is a lightweight, but practical little utility with which you can automate simple computer power options to save more time, or even energy. The range of features is just enough to provide the flexibility you need, taking a few seconds to set it up. It might just be what you need for both personal and work-related activities.
