Slightly Better StickyNotes Description
Slightly Better StickyNotes is a small-sized application that you can use to quickly create sticky notes on your desktop to write down various details you want to remember, such as tasks, todo lists, meetings, appointments, birthday parties, vacations, and other important upcoming events. It includes only basic customization options.
No setup required, besides .NET Framework
There is no installation pack involved. Instead, you can copy the downloaded files to a preferred directory on the disk or to a USB flash drive, in order to seamlessly launch it on any PC. It doesn’t add new entries to the system registry or create files on the disk without asking for permission.
However, it depends on .NET Framework, so you must have this platform installed. Moreover, it doesn’t remember your settings on exit, so your sticky notes are automatically cleared when quitting Slightly Better StickyNotes.
Create multicolored sticky notes
Once the application is launched, it shows a small rectangular window with a yellow background that resembles an actual sticky note. You can type or paste text from the Clipboard, add as many sticky notes as you want to the desktop to create separate texts, as well as cut, copy, paste and select all information.
Moreover, you can make frames stay on top of other active windows, and switch to a different color than yellow, between blue, green, pink, purple and white. This way, you can attach multiple sticky notes to the desktop with various colors, in order to create a color-coded system that can help you keep track of them easier (e.g. by category, priority).
Evaluation and conclusion
Unsurprisingly from such a compact utility, it left a small footprint on system resources in our tests, running on a low amount of CPU and RAM. It worked smoothly, without triggering the OS to hang, crash or indicate errors.
To sum it up, Slightly Better StickyNotes offers a straightforward solution for creating various sticky notes to keep track of important information when working on the computer. On the other hand, it doesn’t have richer options and customization settings for users looking for a comprehensive notetaking tool.
