Types Description
Types is a small-sized and straightforward piece of software that you can use to change file associations in a user-friendly working environment.
The tool comes packed with an intuitive set of options that can be configured even by less experienced users.
The interface is represented by a regular window with a plain and simple structure, where you can view a list of all known file extensions. By opening the right-click menu of a selected item, you can bring up the Properties panel and change the associated program along with the linked class.
In addition, you can specify the default actions, alter the default icon, point out a new perceived type, as well as select the extension visibility mode (e.g. follow Explorer settings, never show extension).
Furthermore, you can add a new item, rename or delete an existing one, as well as use a search function when dealing with large amounts of data. There are no other notable options available through Types.
The application runs on a very low quantity of CPU and RAM, so it does not affect the overall performance of the computer or interrupt normal user activity. It has a good response time and applies the new changes rapidly. Although it has not been recently updated, the tool works well on later operating systems.
No error dialogs were shown in our tests, and the app did not hang or crash. We have not come across any issues. All in all, Types gets the job done rapidly and in an uncomplicated manner when it comes to modifying file associations.
