view3dscene Description
view3dscene is an advanced VRML / X3D browser designed for helping 3D modelers explore 3D model formats (3DS, MD3, Wavefront OBJ, and Collada are supported) using functions, such as collisions, gravity, animations, shadows, mirrors, and shaders. The rendering is provided via OpenGL, and you can also perform file conversions.
Ready to be opened on the fly
view3dscene is portable so you can store it on USB flash drives and run it by simply opening the executable file. The program can be opened without administrative privileges.
Importing, exporting and conversion options
The tool lets you import files with the following file formats: WRL, WRZ, X3D, DAE, IV, OBJ, GEO, JSON, and others. Plus, you can convert the input file formats to VRML and X3D. Images can be converted in batches via the command-line console.
You can take screenshots and save the photos to PNG, JPEG, BMP, DDS, HDR or other formats. The utility helps you print the current camera viewpoint, bounding box of the current animation or frame, and all sorts of statistics.
Viewing capabilities
You are given the freedom to explore 3D models using a single, two horizontal or four viewports, activate the full screen display, and show or hide the bounding box.
view3dscene is able to reveal information about the camera position, moving speed, avatar height, rendered shapes, and time.
You can choose between several fill methods, such as Normal, Wireframe and Solid Shape, and screen effects like Visualize Depth, Grayscale, Gamma, and Negative. In addition, you can work with shaders, shadow maps, shadow volumes, bump mapping, lighting calculation, headlight, scene lights, textures, and blending options.
There’s support for different navigation features which help you jump to specific viewpoints and use various methods for analyzing 3D models, like Examine (you move and rotate the design to different angles), Turntable, Walk (you can use detection and gravity) or Fly (just like Walk but without gravity).
Animations and editing functions
view3dscene offers you the option to play/pause animations, rewind to the beginning, activate the loop mode, and adjust the playing speed.
When it comes to editing options, you are allowed to remove shapes, faces, VRML/ X3D nodes, load material properties from an external XML file, and work with a lights editor for adjusting the global ambient RGB values.
Got what it needs to view 3D images
All in all, view3dscene provides multiple navigation modes and conversion options for helping you manipulate 3D models.
