WinToBootic Description
WinToBootic is a tiny application that gives you the possibility to swiftly and seamlessly create bootable flash drives from WinPE, Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 ISO images. It doesn’t include complicated options or configuration parameters, making it accessible to all types of users.
No installation required, besides .NET Framework
As long as you have .NET Framework installed on your computer, you don’t need to set up anything else. This means that you can save the program files in any part of the hard disk and just click the executable to launch the app. Just keep in mind that administrative rights are required.
Another option is to keep it stored on a removable storage unit (like an external HDD), in order to directly run it on any computer with minimum effort and no previous installers. It shouldn’t modify any Windows registry settings.
Straightforward interface and options
The GUI is user-friendly, made from a small window that provides direct access to all available options. All you have to do is connect a pen drive or hard disk into the computer unit, as well as indicate the source Windows ISO image using either the file browser or drag-and-drop support.
The tool supports NTFS USB flash drives and it’s capable of quickly formatting the removable storage unit before attempting to burn the ISO image (Joliet / UDF) with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 2008, Vista, PE2 or PE3.
Evaluation and conclusion
The whole burning procedure takes a while. The software application didn’t put a strain on the overall performance of the machine in our tests, since it needed low CPU and RAM to work properly. No error dialogs popped up and it didn’t hang or crash.
Although it doesn’t implement richer options and configuration parameters, WinToBootic offers a clear-cut solution for creating bootable Windows drives, and it can be handled with ease by anyone.
